“THE QUINTESSENTIAL QUINTUPLETS”
Genre- Comedy, Romance, School, Slice of Life, Shojo, Harem.
Futaro Uesugi, a rather high-skilled high-schooler who is just about good at anything in studies as much as he sucks and fails at sports and athleticism. Coming for not a poor, but a financial troubled background, he has till yet been always living up his life as a cheapskate. Though he is not selfish or untrustworthy, his family actually faces a great deal of debt (to which there is almost no account in anime as to what that debt is) which he must now somehow pay back. Looking for a suitable part-time job, Uesugi stumbles upon a Quintuplet sister in cafeteria who now just so happens to be from a filthy rich family. What is his job? A tutor. Being that it is not the easiest job, Uesugi still takes on this challenge head-on. It is just at that moment that he realizes that this may actually be his most terrifying decision ever.
The five sisters, the ‘Quintuplets’, or rather the Nanako sisters, Ichika, Itsuki, Yotsuba, Miku and Nino are someone who do not do any well in their studies as much as they do in goofing around. Being that all five of them absolutely detest studying and literally have no interest in it, their father hires them a tutor, who is in this scenario Futaro Uesugi. Not thinking of much at the time other then his family debt in mind, Uesugi reluctantly agrees to take on the job as their tutor. What happens next, changes not only the daily lone and dull life of Futaro but all the Quintuplets as well. Just by being near him and in his presence the sisters slowly but gradually begin to change and develop feelings for Futato in many different occasions, other than Nino that is. Who in the anime is supposed to be the person who is kind yet very hard to get through once that the person’s mind is made up. Though Uesugi at the very most ends up teaching on the three, Ichika, Yousuba and Miku, he actually also manages to passive teach the other sister (Nino and Itsuki) by talking loudly and distracting them at times. Even as he was hired as only but a tutor, Futaro does not fail to deliver his main good side in the anime as the kind and loving but cocky and mature protagonist. It may seem futile at the very moment but if you really put your focus in it don’t you think that that is just the kind of person that he really is. Kind and compassionate when the time for help calls and yet mature enough to not be a fool and be played around with. Even-though it may seem weird at the first glance the anime is actually a pretty solid hit in all it parts as it does not go on like every other anime, where the overly kind main character goes around to show just how great and kind he is with no bad side and how he wins over all the girls just by his talks. This anime in contrast is pretty different form those low-life everyday anime, as here the main protagonist is just as cocky and brutal as he is kind, where he is just as savage as he is compassionate and just as serious as he is cocky.
As the anime does not reveal any backstory and any side flashback of any of the protagonists where we still do not know, who was Futaro in his past? Which Quintuplet did he meet back then? Who was the one in the marriage scene? Who will he finally end up with? And lastly will he be able to forever be with them even after all the exams that are coming towards them? And if so, what will happen once they do graduate? The animation and others aren’t anything flashy in here but what is is the story, plot and the well execution of every side of the characters in it, where they all have their own share of problems and how each of their own problems is shown here making this anime a well versed and well plotted anime.
This anime is recommended for every “Shojo” anime lover.
