"Mankind faces annihilation." Not from an asteroid, a nuclear bomb, or even an alien attack but by the creators of mankind themselves, the gods. Depicting one of the biggest mythological calamities that the human race face, the Ragnarok. This is an anime that tells us about a one-on-one battle between the gods and mankind.
Giving us a story that is off the shelves and quite contrary to what we usually experience in these genres, this anime goes on to portray an event in Norse mythology called the Ragnarok. This anime has great research of characters both from the times of human folk-tales and stories that revolve around gods and goddesses. Thus, having a detailed narration of even the small events that make up Norse mythology, Hindu mythology, and many others. The primary factor that really uplifts the anime, however, is the fact that it gives us a backstory of all the mythology that lays behind the gods and the legendary heroes that we see here, which helps us to understand their power and why they would go to such lengths to fight in this event. But then again going on to its negative side, even though the story related to myths are on point it still holds out in the comparison of the characters in the anime, where almost all of them are not the true depiction of gods that we encounter in the myths and legends, it just makes us lose a little interest as the characters we see in here are not the same as who we have been told through our childhood. As this is an action-based anime it makes total sense that it is filled with seriousness, but to balance it out there are instances of comedic relief at times that help cut the tension.
Coming to the technical aspect of the anime, the animation is good overall but still lacks in comparison to what we might expect out of an action-based anime. Though it may lack in certain areas, you can still say that this is an anime that will have you at the edge of your seat as you still wouldn't be sure of what to expect next. Fairing well in terms of the genre that supports it, we can say that we might just have a second season to it.
This anime is recommended for every "ACTION" anime lover.
