“Date A Live Season 3” just got aired this year, and if you were maybe wondering the fact as to why I didn’t do the “Date A Live” reviews for so long, then it was because of the fact that I was waiting for its third season to get aired soon with all episodes so that I didn’t forget anything at the time when I started watching its third season. Anyway, enough with side story, the third season of “Date A Live” comes with some really promising features and story and it is because of that that the third season absolutely becomes a must for you if you have already watched the first two seasons of it.
To open up, lets just sat that the animation and the production value of the anime has really stepped up a notch as you can make it out right from the starting scene and this is when you notice that the studio producing “Date A Live” isn’t really kidding around anymore as there details and animation techniques are much better not only during fighting scenes but also during the rest of the anime as well. The Great Spatial Quake is again mentioned as that is the base of the story and for that it cannot be missed, and what the team “Date A Live” really did interesting here was the fact that they mixed the way in which their main story line progresses and the way how their characters are introduced and made to join Shido’s team. From Episode 1 to Episode 5, another spirit or rather the ‘Seventh Spirit’ is introduced in the anime and to make it progress faster the DEM’s plot is mixed with the way how Natsumi (The Seventh Spirit) is introduced. During this brief period of introducing Natsumi and the plot of DEM we also see how Ike (rather Issac Westcott) moves in the shadows and plots his ways to capture the Spirits and ‘Inverse’ them once again. It is also during this time that we see a ‘Mini Episode of Fun’ in all the seriousness, where the main girls in the anime turn to kids by Natsumi’s magical powers, this again acts as a way to cool down the seriousness and subside all the chaos that has been taking place. One of the biggest flaw however in the anime is that we see very less of Kurumi where she is not introduced in the anime till the ending of the 8th Episode where she is finally revealed and brought in as a character in the anime, and second is the fact that there is zero representation of ‘Mana’, it is unsure if the team actually forgot her or if she was left out unintentionally, but whatever the case even her un-representation did not make that much of a difference in the anime. Now coming to the villain side, it was actually quite a shock to see Origami as one of the villains but rather what was even more shocking was the fact when her past was finally revealed. To not spoil anything, I would tell you that you best watch it yourself, but again a heads-up don’t be too shocked when you see what actually happened in her past.
There is obviously much more detail in the story, barring the 12th Episode where it was much more like a OVA Episode and it kind of left that everything was rushed as it definitely forgot to deliver feelings and emotions as well as the story. Again like the first two season there are many more questions, with the many ones being, Who is Elliot, What is his connection to Fraxinus, Who is Phantom really, Her connection to Shido and his past, What is there relation and lastly, is the world really going to survive? You can expect many twists and turns in the story line in the third season but I guarantee you that no twist in the story is bigger than that of Origami’s.
This anime is recommended for every “ACTION” anime lover.
