“KIMI NI TODOKE”
Genre- School, Romance, Comedy, Slice of Life.
Every word that is spoken and every feeling that is expressed, its probably all true. Having never seen a Romantic-Comedy so good and a anime so intense and exciting, it is just that right about now I am at a loss of words. When I first began the anime, I honestly did not expect it to be anything special and anything out of the ordinary but, when I saw the way how its started, I knew just then that this was a anime that I would not regret watching. You obviously do not know all the surprises that are in store for you but what you do know is the fact that you can expect a lot of great things from it.
“Kimi ni Todoke” seemingly nothing out of the ordinary is that dish which looks like a street food but when tasted it is in truth but a gourmet. There is probably no better way for me to explain it other than this and when I say this, I mean it in every form, from the way it is presented to the way all the spices are added in it. The writer clearly did not waste any time in the sub-setting of the anime, like wasting time with useless backstory of secondary characters, or wasting time with introduction the useless misunderstandings that surround our protagonist ‘Sawako’ again and again. What the person probably did was to focus and clear the misunderstanding quota of the protagonist from the first beginning itself to avoid its introduction time and time again. This in itself is a very huge plus point in the anime and it is actually this factor of it that makes the anime even more fun to watch. Coming to the main plot of the anime, it is actually very simple. “Kuronuma Sawako” is a high-school girl who is surrounded by misunderstandings because of the fact that her name is ‘Sawako’ and it is misinterpreted by almost everyone as ‘Sadako, From the movie The Ring.’ Owing to this misunderstanding and to the fact that she looks a little scary, people usually avoid talking or interacting with her and leave her lonely most of the time. Kazehaya is the guy in her class who is loved by all, both by guys and by girls because of his looks, nature and ideal personality. He usually helps those who do not fit in and stay alone, but why did he choose to help Sawako is something the whole anime is about. Did he get close to her because she was lonely, or because of the feelings that arose within him for her? Watch the anime to find for yourself.
Coming to the topic of feelings, a Romantic-Comedy usually ends up a failure if it does not have this factor of feelings in it. But, in here it is the total opposite, the area of feeling is looked deep in this matter and it is probably because of this that the anime actually ranks really high in my list of all the anime. The anime does not fail to deliver and impress us with its simple language and feeling, as everything in it is kept simple but spicy at the same time. The anime also comes with a ‘Recap Episode’ which is ‘Episode 16’ where the anime goes into a complete flashback mode and tells us the story that has been shown so far and also highlights all the important parts of it like, Sawako and rumors about her friends, Sawako and Kurumi’s difference and also the misunderstanding part from the beginning. I really wanted to specify this as a Romance type anime but if I did that then all the other factor of the anime would be left to injustice. And since that cannot happen, this is the type that it is suitable to.
This anime is absolutely a “MIUST WATCH.”
