Hikigaya Hachiman, a loner from the start of his life is someone who was involved in a car accident at the complete start of his high school. It was due to his rescue of a dog that he got involved in a car accident, making him a person who didn't fit in at the start and thus continuing his life as a loner. Many may assume that this is a anime about a sorry old grey life of a student, but in fact it is the opposite. It is true that at the first episode of the anime it was something that I thought would be boring but as the story continued and moved on I realized that this anime just may be my favorite among the school, drama anime. [Though DRAMA is not a genre]
Hikigaya, as the anime tells us all to well, he was a person who suffered with the eight grade syndrome during his childhood but that is something that has now come to pass. What he now suffers with is his unique, different and twisted way of seeing the world that is there for everyone. Where one may see it full of colour and pleasantries he was someone who saw the truth in it and realized it. It was because he knew all too well that youth was but a lie and the people living it were but people who had given up on themselves and were forced to accept this so called 'YOUTH' by the people around them. It may not be surprising to say that he is a person who seriously needs help, but with the progression of the anime and with his twisted but sensible way of noticing the things around him, wouldn't it be actually possible to say that what he says and thinks are but true after all. It was because of this unique thought of his that his teacher Shizuka Hiratsuka forces him to join the Service Club to rehabilitate himself. It is here that his youth actually begins for real. Throughout the anime we see the role of how he plays the villain in order to correct others and how he goes on to make memories with the club members, Yukinoshita Yukino and Yuigahama Yui. There are many interesting things that are for the sole purpose of telling us the different way to look at things, what they are, is for you to find out.
Say that this may be my favorite anime is something I take pride in as I can personally relate to many stuff throughout the anime. The anime does not contain a total comedy background to it but it is the sudden comedy and puns that make it worth watching even more. If it was me who had to say it I would say that this anime was more of a anime about the different concept of understanding and breaking things rather than a school comedy anime, and it is particularly for that sole reason that I recommend people to watch it even more.
This anime is recommended for every "Slice of Life" anime lover.
P.S- Want to know why Slice of Life, watch the anime to find out!
